CNBC reported tonite on new IBM microprocessors. i understood CNBC to say that IBM is expected to be marketing this new generation of processors, which apparently integrate glass and silicon as semiconductors, sometime next year.
CNBC made it sound like this is going to be a VERY big deal, since the new ibm machines will run much faster than the current generation of machines. i understood CNBC to report that the processors would be used in notebooks, and some of the higher-end machines ibm makes, but not pc's in '99.

has kemble or anyone else discussed ibm's new processors? what impact will it have on dell? is ibm expected to sell the processors to its competitors? if so, won't dell and other pc companies have to pay a premium for them? is intel's merced comparable to the new ibm processors? if someone could reference a prior post discussing these issues, i would greatly appreciate it.
