<<What is the advantage of a MAC over other PC's?>>

Well, for one. Plug and Play.

Yesterday, I took one of my new techs over to install system on an old Mac. I brought a preformatted SCSI hard drive with the system installation software and full compliment of MS Office.

This tech is MCSE (Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer) qualified on Windows NT 4.0. He was amazed that I 1) did not require installation of a SCSI card. 2) did not need to install drivers for the hard drive 3) The hard drive automatically mounted and booted up the computer.

He confessed that on Windows PCs you can get that to happen, but you have to configure the bios (a chip that resides in the computer). You need extra hardware. You have to install driver software for both the SCSI card and the hard drive device and then you have set the config to recognize the drive and boot up from it.

As he's been working in our mixed environment, he says he finding out more and more that Macs are better machines contrary to what he was told when studying for MCSE.

Now, what is the relevant impact to the consumer?

If you have a home computer, it is not likely that you will have an MCSE tech available to help you get your computer up and running if it zonks out. You save lots of money.

When I was at Lucent, the maintenace cost for 130 Macs for four years was less than $10,000. When we switched to PCs, we spent that much in four months.

There are dozens of other Mac Advantages. But this is the one I focus on the most because it affects my budget.
