WESTFORT TESTS WELL AT PELAHATCHIE FIELD FLOWING OVER 750 BARRELS OF OIL PER DAY FROM PAY IN HOSSTON
JACKSON, MISSISSIPPI, Aug. 4 /CNW/ - Westfort Energy Ltd., symbol WT on the Toronto Stock Exchange, announced today that it has established excellent production of oil from a Hosston zone at a well in central Mississippi's Pelahatchie Field. The Johnny Rhodes 7-6 well initially flowed at a rate of over 750 barrels of oil per day on open choke. No formation water was reported. When placed on a 6/64th choke, the well flowed at a rate of 192 barrels of oil with no water on a 24 hour test with tubing pressure increasing from 1500 No. psi to 1570 No. psi and production increasing as the well cleans up. Production is from a pay zone in a Hosston sand through perforations from 11,244 ft to 11,252 ft. An estimated 20 foot of oil column with 16 feet net pay was present in that Hosston sand logged at 11,244 to 11,264 feet. In addition, seven other sands have been evaluated to be productive in the well from log and core analysis. The same Hosston zone being produced in the Johnny Rhodes 7-6 has been a recent target zone in the field and is also present in the company's recently drilled Pelahatchie Deep Unit 184 No.1 drilled approximately 1 mile south, as well as in numerous wells drilled in the 1960's. In the 18-4 well, the company logged 26 feet of net pay in what appears to be a separate structural trap.
