Engage/Accipiter Sales Accelerate
Publishing giant Miller-Freeman leads the list of more than twenty-five new customers for Engage/Accipiter AdManager and AdBureau solutions
ANDOVER, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 4, 1998-- Engage Technologies, the standard in online precision marketing solutions, announced today that more than twenty-five companies have selected Engage's precision profiling technology and its Accipiter AdManager software or AdBureau service to manage and maximize their web site advertising programs. Engage and Accipiter are both wholly owned subsidiaries of CMG Information Services (NASDAQ:CMGI - news), and have recently completed integration of their respective product offerings to deliver the next generation of online advertising solutions.

The new customers represent a broad cross-section of web marketers, including Miller Freeman, Inc., one of the world's largest publishing companies. In many cases, these new customers have switched to the EngageAccipiter platform from competitive products, citing the need to take advantage of its best-of-breed scheduling, administration, and reporting capabilities, as well as the potential for profile-enabled ad targeting.

''Our individual users are staking out prime web territory for very different interests and industries,'' said Engage president and CEO Paul Schaut. ''But they all have a common need to grow and retain advertising dollars. They're innovators who want real results and who understand what it takes to build the right audiences and attract the most aggressive advertisers.''

Some of the notable companies among the newest AdManager and AdBureau users include:

Miller Freeman, Inc. (www.mfi.com) -- Recognized around the globe for its business publications, trade shows, and conferences, MFI operates approximately 180 active Web sites within its own ''Web farm,'' as well as 20 sites on outside servers. ''We need a true industrial strength ad engine that can target campaigns and generate detailed reports across all these sites,'' says MFI Web Systems Analyst Ben Thompson. ''We chose Accipiter because of its out-of-the-box features for user profile targeting, dynamic report generation, and layered administration, as well the ability to make ad reservations.''
The FANSonly Network (www.fansonly.com) -- The FANSonly Network of 40 official college sports sites has experienced 450 percent traffic growth since it started in 1996, and now supports a list of national consumer advertisers as well as a high-profile content distribution deal with CBS SportsLine. The company recently replaced its ad management system with Accipiter AdManager. ''It is more important than ever for us to deliver accurate, comprehensive reports...and adjust the performance of any ad in the rotation -- at any time -- to maximize the value for our advertisers and partners,'' says Jay Amos, the company's senior vice president of advertising and marketing. ''By enabling us to handle these mission-critical functions effectively, Accipiter AdManager is easily the most valuable business tool we have in our advertising operation.''
ChannelSeven (www.channelseven.com) -- As the web's leading site for the Internet marketing community, ChannelSeven is committed to providing full-scale professional support to its highly visible advertisers such as Microsoft, Intel, and Netscape. At midnight on July 27,1998, the company launched a new edition of its web site featuring the ''Turbo-Ad'' rich media format, supported by Accipiter AdManager. ''Rich media is the future of web-advertising,'' says ChannelSeven CEO Bob Risse. ''We believe that Accipiter has the most advanced feature set to handle its requirements.''
E.Central Neighborhood Link (www.neighborhoodlink.com) -- E.Central's Neighborhood Link provides corporate-sponsored interactive web sites to certified neighborhood associations in various US metro areas, enabling major advertisers such as AT&T and Progressive Insurance to bring their messages to specific geographic audiences while building enormous community goodwill. ''We encourage our sponsors to change their banners as much as they like,'' says Don Bachner, vice president of marketing for E.Central. ''Accipiter AdManager gives us the power and flexibility to do that with great confidence.''
Nation's Restaurant News (www.nrn.com.) -- The nation's leading food industry publication, NRN now has an award winning web site that is the industry's only online source for daily news and information. The company recently selected Accipiter AdManager to handle ad scheduling and detailed reports for advertisers, and to provide a future platform for profile-enabled ad targeting. ''We need to lead the pack with our web presence,'' says Lydia Cheng, director of online sales and marketing for NRN. ''AdManager gives us the versatility we need to provide our customers with the support they expect while also providing them with the confidence that NRN-Online is using the best tools in the market.''
IPC (New Musical Express/ www.nme.com, Uploaded/ www.uploaded.com, Yachting and Boat World /www.yba.com) -- The United Kingdom's largest publisher, IPC manages an enormous volume of web advertising for its various web sites. The company outsources it all through Accipiter AdBureau, thus streamlining operations without relinquishing control of the advertising sales process. ''Accipiter provides an easy-to-implement, cost-effective ad management outsourcing solution that has already been successfully deployed by other large media sites, like EMAP and the BBC,'' says IPC Director of New Media Colin Tough. ''We are also interested in adding value to our interactive marketing efforts, and the combination of Accipiter's advertising solution with Engage Technologies' anonymous visitor data collection and real-time targeting applications will enable us to introduce behavior-based ad targeting to our Web sites.''
