Chief justice won't block testimony By MICHAEL KIRKLAND WASHINGTON, Aug. 4 (UPI) - Chief Justice William Rehnquist has refused to block the forced testimony of a White House lawyer before independent counsel Kenneth Starr's grand jury. The chief justice did not issue an opinion with the denial. (He's probably still ticked that Clinton interrupted his European vacation last month.) The White House lawyer, Lanny Breuer, is expected to appear before the grand jury shortly. I have a question: How many lawyers does it take to protect the Clintons? Every time I turn around there's one more I'd never heard of before. If one subscribes to the commonly-held belief that the number of lawyers present is directly proportionate to the guilt of the defendant, Clinton is in deep trouble. RS
