I can only quote Gomer Pyle:
'Surprise, Surprise, Surprise!!'
Perhaps not as entertaining as Tom's Viagra remark, or Linda et al's prozac jokes..., but the best I could come up with, and indeed what I've been thinking. (and humour IS needed at this point)
More data would be good. The press release said he left 'for personal reasons' and I don't have a reason to doubt that. A possible upside is who they get to replace him.
As I write, the nasdaq down 48, the dow down >200. In short, we've got weak semi's, an Asia-spooked market and now management uncertainty. Bad timing for this announcement? maybe.
In '96 the price dipped below 11 briefly and my last buy was at 12. Having been there when Intel was finishing its last mouthfulls of VLSI's lunch, and having seen all that's happened since then it's almost unthinkable that there's more downside than that. But of course there are no laws about these things -- unless you're dead things can get worse, right?
That said, these are the times that really test whether you believe in the company and it's products or not. I had planned on getting more at 14 and so now I 'get' to buy more cheaper..., yipp-frig'n-ee!!
I'm almost afraid to check the price after this post..., but I must.
Viagra to the price, and prozac to us all...., cheers and/or jeers! -Kevin |
