ONE was in my long term portfolio for a while, and I held both NB and Barnett Bank for about 9 months, but honestly about 6 weeks ago I was informed that there were irregularities in ONE's earnings report. It was very inflated. I then sold the shares and currently hold no banking issues. My husband whose John Hancock banking mutual fund appreciated over 80% in the last year was recommended that he sell, which he did in the beginning of June, 1998. I think the banking sector has reached a very high plateau and with all the mergers will eventually be very profitable and provide good trading opportunities but I'm no longer bullish on the sector.
