skeets,
Compaq's share price has already paid for its "no profit" quarters IF they are over with after Q3 of this year. You can roll a lot of expenses under the rug called "digesting DEC". I think Compaq will soon be priced on the Q4 expectations.

The question is, can they return to profitability going forward? I know MB compared the boxmakers to tv makers, but Compaq is more like a tv maker and a cable company and a media company. It still has the lion's share of the server market, and more important, has bought DEC's service arm to go head-to-head against IBM and HWP's service organizations. These are the organizations whose prospects I'm trying to figure out.
