So if you were Sony would you use a MPEG1 decoder from a second place MPEG supplier, that couldn't decode certain classes of MPEG compliant bitstreams? I wouldn't. We're not talking Video artifacts here, we're talking decoder crash & burn. Happy, happy, joy, joy. You get what you pay for.
