AOL Easily Tops Analysts' Expectations, Earns 23 Cents A Share (what about the .24 whisper numbers)CSCO beats by 1 cent but both were down in after hours trading.

NEW YORK -(Dow Jones)- America Online Inc. handily topped estimates for the
fourth-quarter Tuesday, while revenue jumped 67% from a year ago.
AOL reported operating income of $57.3 million or 23 cents a diluted share, above the
19 cents a share predicted by analysts surveyed by First Call.
The results were close to the "whisper numbers" of up to 24 cents a share. The
whisper number is Wall Street parlance for the last-minute, informal estimate that's
privately shared among some people in the market before an earnings announcement. It
usually serves as a gauge for how a stock trades after the report.
A year ago the company reported operating income of $5.6 million or 3 cents a
diluted share.
Total revenue jumped to $792.3 million.
