Tomorrow

My thinking is that tomorrow will continue the ugliness. Although both CSCO and AOL beat estimates, I don't think either beat the "whisper" numbers.

I did not short HIBB. Checked it early and the spread was of the order of the evil tower co. so I decided to pass. I may have jumped to early, but took a small short position in LRCX. The semi's will join the blue chips in the crapper shortly.

Made lunch money day shorting DCLK, LCOS, and AMZN.

PS - Here's something we often don't think much about when going short, but it can be devastating. I was short AMP all July and made about 6 points. I closed up my trailing stop and was finally (and fortunately) stopped out on an uptick last week.

AlliedSignal (ALD) 42 7/8 -11/16: diversified company is making ahostile bid for AMP Inc. (AMP 28 3/4 +1/8), a leading manufacturer of electrical, electronic, fiber-optic and wireless interconnection devices and systems, for $44.50 a share; bid comes after AlliedSignal was rebuffed in a friendly takeover; deal is valued at $9.8 bln; plans to begin takeover offer within five days... AMP is up about 14 points in the aftermarket!!
