I'm steering clear of short term Lucent speculation until after they do their "big deal" when pooling of interest restrictions are lifted on them in October. For a long term hold, I can't think of many stocks which are better than Lucent. I think if it did happen that Ascend shareholders will be much better off as Lucent shareholders, as Ascend has always been a volatile trading stock. FWIW
