what if you set your sights on the thread of a company where you see wrong doing of some kind. you do your dd the way you always do and somehow you get bad info. my question is do you ever worry that you might hurt an innocent company and their shareholders with what you do?
Yes, I do worry about that sometimes. But I also don't put stuff online irresponsibly. I (and others) knew about the Mike Skillern fraud business about two weeks ago, but didn't go with it because we didn't have confirmation that it was the same person. To have published it, and then found out we were wrong, would have been unfairly damaging to the company, to Skillern, and to the shareholders.
When we finally got what we needed, well, then... That IS fair. A matter of public record.
Should I ever really screw up--get it REALLY wrong--then of course I'd say so, retract everything. But in the market that's not always enough, and so I hope it never happens.
I'd feel bad about it, and I might get sued, though only if I made untrue statements or accusations. I genuinely believe that a good company will, in the end, come out okay. When you're dealing with BBs, though, ask all the questions you can think of. If they can't stand up to the scrutiny of investors and potential investors, just forget it. There are a million other possibilities out there. |
