"Saving Private Ryan" appears to be worthwhile, but I'm sure he has probably used it as a vehicle to browbeat the viewer with his political leanings

Actually bp this movie is very apolitical, which surprised me no end. I can't tell you how moving it was to see what our boys sacrificed to keep us free from tyranny. Spielberg even had what would today be considered politically incorrect scenes where a Christian sniper would kiss his cross and say a prayer before each shot. Overall a very, very moving picture. I heard it put best by a woman on an afternoon radio talk show out here discussing the gore and whether or not it was too much. She felt she owed it to every G.I. to see this movie, no matter how much gore, to, in a small way, experience the hell they experienced to keep us free.

This stands in stark contrast to Spielberg and Hanks attending the fundraiser feting this......whatever he is.
