Lamar,
You don't mention what OS you are running (Win 3.x, 95, 98, NT).
One place to look is in a file named "win.ini". Near the top, you should see a line (called a "section") like this: [windows]
Under this line, are lines containing "load=" and "run=". It might be the fax program is listed in one of these lines. If so, edit this file (carefully), and remove the reference(s) to it.
Other places it might be loading, depending on the program and OS, include files in (most likely) your c:\ (root) directory named "autoexec.bat" and "config.sys", and in c:\windows\start menu\programs\startup. (The latter is for Win 95 or 98. You can see what is in this directory by pressing "Start", and going to "Programs", and then "Startup".)
Another place might be in the system Registry, but we won't go there .... If you don't understand something I said, or don't feel comfortable editing or deleting files, please don't do it. You can easily make things worse.
