It would have made a lot more sense to sample than to drill. Only 2 macros have been found to date on the property which does not even come close to confirming that there is an economic quantity of diamonds. If I was running Astro, I would rather see if there is an abundance of diamonds before determining the size of a pipe. Less than 10% of pipes are diamondiferous. Also Astro only drilled one hole into 3 different targets. They did not determine the size of any pipes. I have spoken to numerous geologists about Astro's program and all seem to concur that the logic was very flawed.
