Hi David, shorting against the box is borrowing your own stock which is a long position and shorting it vs borrowing stock from someone else. When you are shorting your own stock if the stock goes up or if it goes down you will not make or loose money. Your short position will be in your margin account and the brokerage house will charge you interest on this position.
