Dave, am not sure I agree with much of what you said. 1) Liquid helium is indeed expensive. The OPART does not require any cryogen replacements! 2) Installation is expensive but the FONAR's heavy weight would impose a large burden in terms of siting requirements, unless you just happen to have a ground floor available, which some do, some don't. 3) GE is very unfogiving in terms of pricing structure; they don't feel a need to discount their products much. It's theose tht are hungrier for sales that generally have to "buy" marketshare.
