<< I think the decay in the educational system is not the fault of the politicians. It's the fault of the parents and the kids. >> Hmmmmm!? Interesting point. In a way, it's like blaming the victims, especially when you blame the kids because the schools aren't working correctly. In part, the NEA is also to blame. We've got many teachers that are not qualified to teach, IMHO. If we tested the total knowledge and teaching abilities of our teachers, the results would probably shock the hell out of us. And then, down here in South Florida, they built many "open classroom" schools. These are schools that just have partitions between classrooms. It's a real joke. It not only shows the incompetence of the local school boards, but that they must've been brain dead, because they kept building the disastrous structures. At PTA meetings, without many children present, the noise level is deafening. The speakers cannot be heard. Add 500 kids to this environment, and it's a wonder that anyone can learn anything. To me, solutions to our problems includes the testing of people running for office to insure that they are minimally qualified. The result, after some tweaking, would be higher caliber government officials. In the mean time, we've got to live with many politicians who's only goals are to promote their sectarian dogma and engage in constant political infighting. Doing what's best for the people and the country seems to take a back seat these days. Regards, Bob |
