In which category I assume you include Boeing, tobacco growers, Chrysler, and virtually every other major corporation in America. Corporate "welfare" dwarfs individual "welfare."

Yes, AB-SO-BLOODY-LUTELY! It is a pleasure to agree with you on this point.

"Corporate welfare" stems from the special interests and tax loopholes perpetuated by lobbyists and influential (often corrupt) politicians. Get the government as far away from commerce as possible and let the free market decide who makes the best products at the best prices. Stop paying farmers to NOT grow crops. Stop subsidizing obsolete programs like the helium reserves for wartime use of dirigibles. Stop supporting sugar cane prices artificially. And what sort of nonsense is the subsidy of tobacco growing on one hand and the condemnation of its use and manufacture on the other?

We should continually remind the bureaucrats that it is NOT their money and that they should either spend it wisely or risk being thrown out of office for fiscal irresponsibility.
