Which aspect?
Dataquest does the research and all the marketing people of each respective company seize on something which makes them look good. Check out their respective press releases.

With regard to the V.90 issue Cisco are only in the Beta phase still which is public knowledge to their customers. Probably as a result of finding out how hard it is to write good solid modem code on your own. (The MICA technology they now use with a little help from Rockwell) 3Com have USRX's extensive experience in this field whilst Ascend buy it in from Rockwell who have bee doing it for years too. If I'm a service provider now looking for 56k modem technology, I'd think that I would want to see something available now that's shipping than a flaky Beta.

3Com and Ascend have issued press releases confirming V.90 availability (by that I mean shipping)I can't recall Cisco doing the same, although I could be wrong. I can't see them making major inroads at the moment without the latest and greatest modem speeds on the 53 and 5800.
