njr - believe you may be focused on the wrong conspiracy. the shorts are not the ones manipulating this stock. they didn't disrupt a fundamentals based rally with lies and disinformation. they cast doubt on a story-stock runup that appears to have been totally unwarranted. i don't know what you have been reading/hearing about the evil shortseller empire with their wily ways and timing (perhaps anthony stauss explained this to you?) but it really doesn't work like that. the ones to watch are the longs. regional brokerage firms of ill repute have been known to spread all sorts of likes about companies like these to make the stocks go up. they own them, and would love to sell to you at higher prices. they also get commissions on your trades, and though i don't believe it to be the case here, take kickbacks from the companies. i would be happy to show you some glaring examples if you really want. short sellers are an easy scapegoat for poor investing decisions, but go back and read the posts here. the longs have been very sparse on detail, while the shorts have provided gobs of it. they did the work. the longs relied on bucket shops. accusing them of extorting management with a campaign of internet terror is ludicrous. not even fox moulder is going for that one. (look, there are some unscrupulous short sellers out there, but, imho, these aren't the guys.) though some of it has been perhaps a bit aggressive, the majority of what the shorts on this board have said appears true in marked contrast to the claims of the longs which have not held water and have been at least as aggressive and abusive.
