I went to DOW Stereo and TV, during lunch today. They had a new Panasonic HDTV on display at a cost of 5,400.00. The display was phenomenal and in a cinema format!!!!!!. They used a HDTV video recorder to send the signal to the TV and of course a tweaked demo tape. But the display was all most 3d in effect and as clear as looking out a open window. The Panasonic rep. told me they didn't expect the public to purchase to many before HDTV signals reach San Diego, but they has sold about 2500 HDTV to stores as demo units. The TV was built here at Panasonic's Maquiladora in MEX. and the research and development was in San Diego. The Panasonic rep said, since this was a home town product that they will probably sell 25 to 30 in short order even without a digital signal. This HDTV will take a analog signal and double scans it for a little better picture then we have today.

Ken

PS. A Maquiladora is a trade zone on the border with the US and Mex. utilizing the talents of dual work forces.
