Mel Thomsen, a senior analyst with Microprocessor Report, suggested that if the patent was really this valuable, then International Meta might not have gone under. However, he also said that the Texas company was known as secretive, and that it is hard to put a value on a technology if no products were ever brought to market. "It's hard to imagine a startup could get a patent so important and we wouldn't have heard of it," he added.
