Just finished reading the HK Standard. What a mixed bag of news.

Tonic Industries, manufacturer of Audio-Visual Electronics reports 76% increase in earnings, revs from $864M to $1.5B ($HK)

Emperor Holdings (property, retailing, securtities trading) reports earnings down 62%

Cathay Airlines reports first loss period in 20 years for last 6 months due to low passenger volume in Pacific Rim

As Deswell falls, Shenzhen Index rises 4.3%. China B shares (stocks foreigners can own) rose 9.3%

Street rate yuan/$US weakened to 8.85 vs. official rate of 8.28 on fears of devaluation

Shanghai Foreign Exchange Deposits up 13.2% from first of the year on yuan devaluation fears

China steel exports fell 32.4% on weaker demand and increased competition in Asia.

It all depends on which article one reads.

FWIW,
Ron
