My friend John and I once made a Sparkler Cannon. We took an aluminum tube, packed it full of sparklers and glued it to a block of wood. We left one sparkler sticking out beyond the rest for a fuse. This we lit, and stood back expecting to see a big shower of sparks shoot out of the mouth of the cannon.

What we got was the roar of a jet engine. A solid sheet of flame blasted six feet out of the mouth of the cannon, which was now glowing a brilliant cherry red. The air was shimmering with heat, and the sidewalk had a long black burnt streak that marked off The Zone of Death. We were 12 yr old weapons merchants. Coca Colas and Pez were involved.
