David, thanks for the information. If you don't mind, I would like to ask you a question.

I see from your profile that you have an excellent background and have the ability to analyze stocks
and the markets. I see that you use TA. I know that forecasting is, at best, a difficult science. Many
times half of the forecasters are correct and the other half are wrong. TA, at best, is a very
questionable science. (IMO) My question is ... do you make trading decisions on the basis of TA?

A lot of TA looks very much like a questionable science to me too. There are however various techniques which have a lot more legitimacy in my eyes. For example, I doubt TA can tell you about anything that will happen more than 1-2 months or so out. I see TA as being useful to determine the adjustment paths between changing market equilibria. This kind of concept is current in todays econometrics and has a basis in economic theory. In the absence of a good model of those equilibria etc. what look like unconventional statistical methods seem to be of help. For example I think Bollinger Bands are very useful. I use a 34 day version which seems to be more useful than the traditional 20 day version (see my website). Turning points using this method correlate well with turning points using a time series method I have devised. I use both these to determine when to get in and out. I use fundamental analysis to decide which stocks to invest in in general.

David
