As Bruce said the CyberFax technology is built up of two parts. One hardware part (which I assume must be the network itself, including switches, routers etc), the second part is the proprietary software that is installed onto the computer and thus becomes the (fax)server.

Reading off DCI's website no mention of extra hardware installed into the computer or fax is mentioned so I assume that it is just software that is installed thus neither a board or CPU box. There is also a database connected to the network so usage and better accounting can be made.
