Linda,
In all "fairness" to John (LOL), he did invite me to call him and discuss the situation. I think you can guess why I didn't. I have heard so many different answers to the same question - from different Web St personnel - that I do longer rely on any verbal information. For example, Susan Hines (no longer employed there I have been told) told me that she "thought" fractions could be entered up to x/128's, Mike told me he "thought" it was x/64's, another investor was told x/32's. I know for a fact that their system accepts up to x/256's. Then John comes along and tells me that my order should be entered in decimals! Does anyone there know anything for sure, or do they all take a guess and assume we won't know the difference? As a discount broker I certainly don't expect or want "advice" from them. I do, however, expect that they know the mechanics of their own system, their own business and rudimentary accounting practices and procedures! I am sure you understand why I would prefer information in writing - don't you wish you had gotten something in writing?
I am of the opinion that it is not so much a question of "ethics" as stupidity, contempt, lack of understanding, and/or simply arrogance on their part! Whatever it is, it is not the way to do business! That is just my opinion, of course, and I already know your opinion! (LOL)
Take Care and Good Luck
Bill
