BOSTON, Dec 12 (Reuter) - Digital Equipment Corp said it cut prices on its Alpha microprocessors by 40 to 50 percent, effective immediately. "This announcement is part of our continuing strategy to enhance the competitiveness of Alpha microprocessors in the Windows NT market," said William Johnson, vice president of Digital's semiconductor business segment. Johnson said the Alpha chips deliver superior performance over Intel Corp's Pentium Pro chips and now with competitive pricing, Alpha is positioned for the PC mainstream. MORE Rtr 09:05 12-12-96
