The core of patents having to do with air interference are Q-patents!
Qcom is at full capacity in regards to phone manufacturing. The fact that Q cant make enough phones is helping Nokia. I will admit Nokia is executing fabulously, I own the stock. However the flee to W-CDMA is smoke and mirrors created by Erickson. It is marketing and political savy that is at work. When its the 9th inning we will see who has the first working 3G system based on CDMA! We will also see the disertion of W-CDMA because 1)it isnt close to completion 2)companies wont invest in a technology enveloped in lawsuits 3)the inferior technological system. The fact is Ericksons bluff has been called and a compromise will be made eventially. This bodes well for all parties involved. However this rhetoric of generalizations, and comparisons to Betamax must end. Tero please list which W-CDMA patents Erickson actually has besides soft-handoff. Why is ETSI requesting permission from Q to use CDMA?
