Is that on '98, Roger? I can see the OS having a problem with a removable drive, but many of us put the buffer and qp2data on different fixed drives to improve performance -- probably some '98ers by now. "removed the reference to the buffer" seems strange, maybe your 'disk buffer' and 'quotes plus setup' programs are out of sync. Bob
