Hey, Blair, Growthvalue and Mark, thanks for the great responses! Nice to see some thinking, instead of the mindless flaming and namecalling that keeps showing up on some of the boards, such as Cisco's.
I believe that SAP is the Gorilla of ERP and Peoplesoft and the rest are "Chimps" chasing SAP. Moore, in his book, on page 69 and 157, agrees with me. A couple of you disagree with me. You might be right. We all know the old saw, "Time will tell!".
RE: gross margins on software vs. hardware, Blair, Cisco is running better than 65%(!) gross margin. unbelievable, but true. I won't fight about it, though, the comparison of MSFT and SAP is good enough for a "rule of thumb".
Mike, I think we are definitely in the "Tornado" on ERP. Again, an opinion call. Moore thinks so also, same pages as above.
Growthvalue, I think the premium of SAP over PSFT is due to the market valuing large cap over small cap. I made a 70% return on PSFT, and got out when they projected lower earnings at the end of the first quarter. SAP put out the same warning. Results? SAP up, and PSFT down! Go figure.
Ibexx, great comment on SAP as an IPO, I think it fits.
