Since Larry hasn't an opportunity to respond to your post on how to get information perhaps I can help until Larry gets a chance to post

Unless I misread his post I think he was referring to the bid/ask size.

Data in general can be obtained in one of four ways. Through the internet at a free site, the internet through a paid service, satellite, or TV cable. It can be bought on a 15 minute delay feed or real time. Next to consider is the speed and reliability of the feed you are receiving. I've used two of the three transmission methods, the internet and TV Cable.
They all have their advantages and disadvantages. The internet is the slowest, Satellite is the fastest with cable in between. Depends on whether you get real time or delayed if speed becomes a factor.

Some data feed companies can only use their own software and some are also compatible with other software.

Price can range from less than 100.00 to 300.00/400.00 a month and even more. The more information you want, the more it costs.

You can even get Level II and in some cases Level III information which provides MM information.

Jonathan it all depends on what you want and how prepared you are to pay the price. I believe the reference that Larry made was to bid and ask size which only has value if you are on real time and might only be available with real time data feed. Any conclusions as to what the numbers mean is left entire up to the imagination of the viewer

There are many things to consider when selecting a data feed company and I'll be happy to provide what information I can if you have a need.

What I've just posted is very fundamental and I'm sorry if you know these things but I didn't know at what level to start.
