Bonnie I'm curious >> treasuries are the only safe place in a derivatives collapse.<<

Isn't that what they made a point of last thur/fri that Buffett got out of (treasuries)? The spin was they speculated he saw equity values - of course we don't know his timeframe.

You seem to think it's not over yet, with "another 20% to the downside" which of course scares me. If the educated public investors see this, don't you think AG would have been informed of the consequences by GS/etc since he got the ball rolling? Does AG really want to take 30% of the wealth out of the only consuming market left in the middle of a global meltdown? I mean in 29, they saw it as a mistake for the Fed to have burst the bubble in such a way. Assuming you're right, and it's that obvious to him, does our gov't really want that drastic a loss of wealth & its effects? I've been thinking about this alot lately and can't rationalize why it's worth the devastation of a 30% loss of wealth to lower wages? Of course if it happens, the boomers won't have the money or the desire to invest, so who'll buy that dip with no boomers to sell it back to? It just seems too drastic.

I've only been involved long enough to make a stab at the questions.
I'd appreciate any responses from those involved long enough to take a stab at the answers ;-)

thanks in advance,
Tom
