I installed WIN98 on one of my machines (a home built P-II 233), with absolutely no problem. On the other, a Fujitsu notebook, the modem worked but would freeze the whole system on sign-off. Went into device manager and finally got to the point where the modem didn't work at all ("port in use" or "another program is using dial-up networking", which of course it wasn't). Kept on tweaking and SUDDENLY everything started to work beautifully. Have absolutely no idea what I did to make it work. I guess that's welcome to the world of MSFT!!

Having said that, Internet connections do seem faster in Win98, and stability is improved.
