Gregory, Sorry, but couldn't let this pass by.
<<Do you think it's wrong that our society destroys a person whom we deem too inconvenient to jail for the remainder of his or her life?>>
It's not the inconvenience at all, it's an eye for an eye. The law is supposed to punish the criminal with whatever sentence is appropriate. If the criminal took a life, they should pay with a life, theirs. And capital punishment is a deterrent to others who may consider murdering someone. But today with decades of appeals justice deferred really is justice denied because the deterrent is not there as it would be if say the maximum wait for execution was say 6 months instead of 15 years. People are confused about whether punishment is for rehabilitation or retribution. Society is supposed to be protected from criminals so they are (supposed to be) locked up. But they are let out over and over and most commit the crimes again. In the case of murderers who are let out, they kill again. What a tragedy when a little girl is raped and murdered by a criminal who was supposed to have been "rehabilitated". That little girl did not deserve to suffer that fate. What a crime committed by the liberal establishment who do not protect society in favor of their pet theories about human behavior. Theories they will not admit have been proven wrong time and again. Well, I better wind down here.

PS As for the pro-life question it is a completely seperate issue. One situation is a responsible adult committing the ultimate crime against another person as opposed to an unborn innocent human child having it's life snuffed out before it ever sees the light of day. One is in control of it's life and decisions and the other is helpless and can't even scream, "I want to live, don't kill me" as the doctor snuffs out it's new life. It's a matter of choice, the murderer had a choice whether to murder or not. The unborn child did not have any choice at all. The law has given the mother all the power of choice in regard to killing the child but given the child no protection or rights concerning it's right to live at all. Once the egg and sperm came together that made me and I was not just a possibility but a reality what difference does it make whehter I am killed after 3 months in the womb or at 50 years old? I am still murdered, my life is gone. The time element is meaningless but the law has made a distinction between life in the womb and life outside the womb. But what is the real difference? There is none. The "blob of tissue" argument is just for the sake of those who are a little squeamish about the killing. When does the tissue become me? You don't know. So we have to say life starts at conception. So abortion is murder. |
