May I expound?
Like in the case of RMCW, we can use a 'bottled water' company as an example to express some of the contentions about potential scams as per your posted link.
Example;
Water is becoming increasingly important because the U.S. has
just suffered the worst environmental disaster in history!
The situation is especially acute in California, where a
survey of 32,000 wells has uncovered that over 10,000 are
contaminated with MTBE. This is the oxygenating gas additive
put in auto fuel to make cleaner air.
75% of the water supply wells in Santa Monica Calif. are
contaminated and useless. The EPA limit of MTBE is 35 ppb
level in drinking water. In the city of Glenville, Calif
the MTBE level is 190,000 ppb !!!!!
Yesterday there was a protest at the state capitol in
Sacramento Calif. Citizens crying out for relief brought
bottles of water to the capital and attempted to enter the
capital building with their evidence of bad water. Guards
forbid them from entering and confiscated the bottles of water
under the guise that they were attempting to enter a govt. building
carrying a TOXIC substance. This was the water they are supposed
to be drinking!! Quite humorous!
There are many incidences of cancer, kidney failure, and
liver disease reported in Glenville Calif. California environmental
officials believe there is no connection of health problems
to MTBE at this time and evidence is anecdotal. So gas station
tanks continue to leak into the water table, and oil companies
are spewing out large quantities of even more MTBE...so everyone
can be saved from dirty air. As the body count goes up there will
be yet another campaign to clean up the water supply.

In the above scenario of a critical water problem, it is obvious
that it wouldn't take much to convince an investor that buying
stock in a water company could be very profitable. Notice on
' wwww.figusa.com' that there is a promotion of Mako Capital, a Joe Lanza enterprise, but there is also Greatlands Waterworks Ltd.
which is controlled by Vision Global (yet another Lanza co.)
which does water purification; another angle on water problems.
So, we then have a situation where a group of individuals could commence hyping a bottled water company armed with that ammunition.
It is very easy to see just how
easy people might be induced to invest in a company like this.
Then the shorting would commence! Shorters would have a field day!
Since there are already so many water bottlers
and the business is very competitive. Also , there is a giant cost is either delivery or transportation from the water's source.

For myself, I will most definitely keep my eyes open for hyped-up bottled water companies! When someone tells us it's "going to the moon", I will recall the flight of Apollo 13.
