carl - Re:"should forgive our retrograde Cyrix and AMD friends and let them join this rocket ride?"

I've been enjoying your trading pot shots with the AMD & Cyrix crowd of late. I like someone else to act as a lightning rod once in a while.

As for the AMD & Cyrix crowd - I've kinda hinted to them for the past 6 months that Intel was not about to disappear from the landscape. Meanwhile, the stock (Intel's) has gone from the $60s to $139.

Quite a few (nearly all) the AMD & Cyrix folks have very strong and "passionate" feelings for their respective stocks. In an almost blind faith, they universally want to HATE Intel. Perhaps that is understandable. If those two companies became the only suppliers of x86 chips, their fortunes would go ballistic.

But Intel is not about to fold up its tent. So, their hatred of the "evil empire" has blinded them to the investment opportunities that they have missed out on. Truth be said, AMD has made an excellent bounce off its lows, but it is still a reach from its past highs. Ditto for Cyrix.

Anyhow, if one's idea of success is to have the other fellow collapse, then one will have limited chances on capitalizing on good opportunities. Myself, I try to harbor no religious convictions. If there is a reasonable chance on making money in stocks A, B & C (all competitors) - hey - I'll buy them all if I think the timing is right. Other people are more parochial than I. And probably less successful in their investmnents.

Keep up the jabs!

Paul
