I just happened to catch the tail end of an interview on CNBC with someone talking about what's ahead for the auto industry. He said that the big thing that the auto cos. are working on now is GPS - Global positioning, which would give your location to anyone on the system to within a very few feet (can't remember the exact distance)- I beleve he said 10 feet. When Mr. Springer from ThinStor spoke at the NCII meeting last week, that was what he mentioned as one of the targeted markets for the ThinStor "World's Thinest Disk Drive". This drive uses the NOS (Norris Operating System). This is still in the future, but the technology has been developed (by NCII and ThinStor) and just needs to be licensed by the right parties. Mr. Springer estimated this market (which would also include flight recorders) at having a 22 million UNIT per year potential. Of course, no numbers on the revenue projections per unit.
