Smart Card Forum 6th Annual Meeting is where emerging technologies will converge
McLEAN, VA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--August 7,1998-- The Smart Card Forum (SCF), a multi-industry organization working to accelerate the widespread acceptance of smart card technology, today announced that it will host SmartNet '98, a special one-day symposium, as part of its 6th Annual Meeting at San Francisco, September 9-10. The theme of this smart card industry event-of-the-year is: Accelerating the Marketplace: Competition, Collaboration and Consumer Confidence.
Several hundred private and public sector leaders from around the world and across industries will assemble to examine the advancing pace of change within the smart card industry. On the first day of the meeting, former VeriFone CEO Hatim Tyabji will deliver a keynote address in which he will offer a unique insider's perspective on the smart card industry. A panel co-sponsored with the Global Chipcard Alliance will candidly explore the global interoperability of smart cards. Pulitzer Prize-winning author Patrick Dillion, who has written for Fast Company, will offer insights into the nature of change, the pace of technology and how individuals adapt.
September 10th (SmartNet '98)
A special symposium on the use of smart cards in the cyberworld will break new ground about the possibilities and applications of smart cards for networks. Three main areas will be addressed: compelling applications for early adopters; keys to acceptance by mainstream users; and overcoming the barriers to adoption and deployment.
