On the first day of the meeting, former VeriFone CEO Hatim Tyabji will deliver a keynote address in which he will offer a unique insider's perspective on the smart card industry. A panel co-sponsored with the Global Chipcard Alliance will candidly explore the global interoperability of smart cards. Pulitzer Prize-winning author Patrick Dillion, who has written for Fast Company, will offer insights into the nature of change, the pace of technology and how individuals adapt.

September 10th (SmartNet '98)

A special symposium on the use of smart cards in the cyberworld will break new ground about the possibilities and applications of smart cards for networks. Three main areas will be addressed: compelling applications for early adopters; keys to acceptance by mainstream users; and overcoming the barriers to adoption and deployment.
