Daniel: What I find interesting is the quick OK LSI got despite its dominance in Fibre Channel. Symbios was a competitor in Fibre Channel. Frankly I think the government fell asleep at the switch here. While the original deal would have given ADPT greater vertical integration, this deal gives LSI near complete horizontal dominance in Fibre Channel. But asking a bureaucrat to look into the future of technology is asking too much.

Obviously it is one thing to say that the deal will be accretive to earnings, and another things for it to become accretive to earnings, but this is a tremendous addition to the Fibre Channel lineup, and it will eventually prove to be a masterstroke.

I will be talking to LSI IR next week, and I will try to get you a date for the conference call with analysts. At the last CC, Wilf indicated that the call would be in the last part of this quarter. It will be interesting to look at the pro forma results for this year. I am assuming that '97 was a bad year for Symbios, so the '97 results look all the more promising in terms of the future.

LSI is a terrible trade right now but a tremendous investment for the next two to three years.

Good luck and Good Health to you and your family
