Macker admitted he'd been wrong, acknowledged he'd lost money, announced that, yes, he'd been taken. He always did tell people to do their own DD; a pity more didn't.
Yes, the MTEI story is a debacle. I hope some, at least, have learned that "calling the company" isn't really doing research. We've all lost money on dumb investments at times, through an excess of enthusiasm, through laziness, through--and this is the biggie--greed. But it makes no sense to blame others.
Trading in MTEI wasn't suspended by the SEC because macker thought it looked like a good deal, and turned out to be wrong. The SEC is interested in possible fraud and material misrepresentation on the part of the company. What has happened has, at bottom, nothing to do with macker, or with me, or with the "Mag7" or with anyone except those who were actively involved in the management of MTEI and its stock.
