USinternetworking and PeopleSoft Launch First Internet Managed ERP Applications for the Middle Market
ANNAPOLIS, Md.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 7, 1998--USinternetworking, a revolutionary Managed Application Provider(SM), and PeopleSoft (NASDAQ:PSFT - news), a leading provider of premium software solutions for enterprises worldwide, are joining forces to deliver the first Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software managed over the Internet to midmarket businesses.
Through the alliance, midsize companies can now rapidly implement PeopleSoft Select's best-of-breed business process applications managed by USi through the Internet for a fixed monthly fee with no capital outlay and minimal technical resources.
Integrating PeopleSoft Select applications on its global network of data centers is key to USi's innovative strategy to provide total-solution computing services to clients over the Internet.
The companies' partnership enables enterprise customers to use PeopleSoft Select applications-a new suite of enterprise applications specifically tailored for midsize companies-as part of USi's Managed Application Portfolio (MAP) Solution.
Customers will have access to the following PeopleSoft Select business process blueprints through USi's services: Financial Management, including general ledger, budgets, projects, and asset management; Procurement, including payables and purchasing; Revenue Administration, including receivables and billing; Order Administration, including order management and inventory; and Human Resources, including HR, benefits, and payroll and interface.

USi will integrate PeopleSoft Select applications on servers located in USi's Cisco-Powered Network (NASDAQ: CSCO - news) of global Internet data centers in the United States, Europe and Asia as part of its overall MAP strategy.
Through the MAP business model, USi is serving the emerging market for branded outsourcing services, which overall is expected to grow to a $21.1 billion business by 2001, according to Forrester Research, Inc.
USi will engage PeopleSoft's SelectPath implementation process, a best-practices methodology for streamlining implementation, shortening time-to-benefit from six months to several years down to three-to-six months.
