I think its most likely that the internet will be as ubiquitous as television. Its adoption has been faster, so far. You raise an interesting point--that maybe it will just be a toy for the elite.

Here is a link suggesting that everybody in the U.S. will have email addresses soon. Think of the savings if much of the snail mail we presently receive was delivered electronically.

I think everybody (with rare exceptions) who has telephones will have email in a few years. Why do you think that it is only the elitists who would want to save 10 or 15% by buying electronically?
