Ppro socket 8 upgrades I think Xeon got itself a nice little pain in the but. The ppro 300 and 333 upgrades, fit in to socket 8, no mmx. I heard from a big and-soon-to-be official intel importer in the Netherlands ( = europe), that there is a REAL big demand for those cpu's, and that the most wanted cpu's right now are celerons faster than 300, k6-2 faster than 333 (there seems to be a problem on delivering any k6-2 to meet demand, in Netherlands), AND PPRO !!! I myself am considering to buy a ppro 333, clock it to 400 or at least 350 with 100 bus, and stick it into a BX board as Abit-BH5, and buy myself a convertor from slot 1 to socket 8. I think you will notice that the ppro 333 is just as fast as the Xeon. Maybe faster on some heavy server stuff, 'cause of the absence of the mmx unit, thus reducing switching time. At least i think it is a good alternative for whoom don't like the buggy and VERY expansive Xeon's... Greetz, Michael da Kota
