Intel DieHarders:

Do you know what DirectX 6.0 is?

biz.yahoo.com

This is what Microsoft has to say

"....''Through our support for AMD's 3DNow! technology in Direct3D, software applications can take advantage of its powerful capabilities without additional effort on the part of developers,'' said Kevin Bachus, product manager of DirectX at Microsoft Corporation [Nasdaq:MSFT - news]. ''Applications written to Microsoft's new DirectX 6.0 software development kit will seamlessly take advantage of the faster geometry processing power of the 3DNow! technology found
in the AMD-K6-2 processor.'' ....."

This driver will put the K6-2 ahead of the class of PION (sorry PII) and Celeron. Sorry guys. You have to wait till Q2-1999 to get your KNI driver (MSFT will probably delay if INTC doesn't stop bullying their OEMs) for the Katmai. Smooth sailing for AMD.
