Intel was sued by Gilbert Hyatt who brought the idea of the microprocessor to them before the 4004 was built. Intel partnered with him for a year and then dumped him. They said his designs would not work. Hyatt alleged that the design was scalable and that it was the basis for the intel designs. Hyatt won in California after 15 years. It is under appeal. The DEC suit does not surprise me in light of that. Xerox personnnel have admitted to de-engineering competitors products. They operated a whole division that operated out of hotel rooms that did just that. IBM is another one who is a bit light fingered. Their staff or associates took a few ideas off some engineers I know. They did it through DND on the pretext it was for non profit military uses and it was used exclusively for commercial purposes. IBM claims the disk drive was invented in 1956. Anyone ever see a disk drive around in those days? There is a reason for that phony claim. If you ever come across an honest company in American business let me know. EC<:-}
