If there is any shortage or declining inventories it is because 3.2-4.3g drives are being phased out. They can't have the same margin on them as the 6.4's & up (which will be the heart by Xmas). If there was truly a shortage of 3.2's and 4.3's then there would not be 6 and 7 pages of them for sale at www.pricewatch.com.
The second clue should be, that you can buy new at pricewatch.com for what I see the used 3.2 & 4.3's at ONSL and eBay.
This is hype for a final pump and dump so some big institutional holders can get out what they have in this whole sector, IMHO. Maxtor and IBM are punishing the high-end, and Fujitsu, Samsung, and now even SEG are dumping on the low-end. Go and look at the prices and what the resellers are doing and this should be blatantly obvious.

If KMAG and HMTT start ramping up production, then I'll believe there is a shortage.

Respectfully
Scott
