Tony: If Symbios is good, what do you feel is a fair value for the company? Obviously Symbios's presence in the Xeon chips is not the high end storage part of the business, which is what LSI most treasured. Was 1.2 times sales a bargain, or was it just a so-so price to pay? I contend that it was an outright steal that will grow next year's revenues by over $600 million with a corresponding percentage rise in profits. I don't see where the juice on the debt financing this deal will be that harmful to the bottom line.

I would also note that Altr and Xlnx have a combined revenue total just about equal to LSI, but your point is well taken since their percentage growth has been superior to LSI's in the past few years. We shall see if this remains the same way during the next upturn in the semi market.
